Type: One inlaid plastic clay tile and four dust-pressed tiles.
Description: Five inlaid majolica encaustic floor tiles in neo-medieval ecclesiastical style with makers marks. Four are waffle-backed and the round tile has 16 stabbed holes to the rear.
Design: Central circular tile with IHS embossed in a gothic font set in an ordinal quatrefoil with passion flowers in the foils bounded by florets with Moline crosses and a sunburst. Design attributed to A.W.N. Pugin.
Colours: Blue, green, red, yellow, white and buff.
Dimensions: 18" x 18" x 1/2" (225 mm x 225 mm x 13 mm)
Condition: Good overall but with chips and nibbles to the verso, also small losses of glaze. (see photos).
