Type: Inlaid plastic clay tiles.

 

Description: Nine inlaid encaustic floor tiles in neo-medieval style with makers marks and 25 stabbed holes to the rear.

 

Design: Central ordinal foliate cross set in an octogon with alternating arched foils with lobed or foliate terminals, decorated with crockets and bordered by rosettes. Design attributed to A.W.N. Pugin,  see Brtish Museum object number H_1980-0307-171.

 

Colours: Blue, red and buff.

 

Dimensions (per tile): 6" x 6" x 1" (152 mm x 152 mm x 25 mm)

 

Condition: Fair overall but with chips and nibbles, also edge and corner damage. (see photos).
